Episode 143: Reign of the Supermen Part 9

Welcome to the one hundred and forty-third episode of From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast!  This podcast has a simple premise; examine just about every Superman comic published between Man of Steel #1 in 1986 to Adventures of Superman #649 in 2006 in an informative and hopefully entertaining format.

Part index.  Part commentary.  Part history lesson.  All podcast.

REIGN OF THE SUPERMEN CONTINUES!

This week Mike and Jeff continue their coverage of the last act in the DEATH AND RETURN OF SUPERMAN saga and, like the rest of the REIGN OF THE SUPERMEN issues, they’ve brought along a friend.  Joining the boys this time out is Andrew Leyland, co-host of HEY KIDS, COMICS (which he produces with his son Micheal) and the FANTASTICAST (which he hosts with former guest of the show Stephen Lacey).  Andy arrives just in time to cover the back half of the Superman books that had a September cover date.  In ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #504 Superman, Steel and Superboy mount an assault on Engine City with Superboy making the (seemingly) ultimate sacrifice to save Metropolis from a carnage globe infested missile.  Then, in ACTION COMICS #691 Superman’s secret weapon makes herself known as Mongul has finally had enough of being the Cyborg’s second in command.  After that is a look at the ads and the other titles DC put out during the same cover month.

Mike and Jeff would like to thank Andy for coming out to play and want him to know he is welcome back at any time.

You can subscribe to the show in two ways. First there is the RSS Feed and there is also the iTunes link.

If you want to comment on the show or contact the hosts you can always private message Mike and Jeff, at the Superman Homepage, leave comments here or at the Homepage or here or email them by clicking this link. All questions, concerns, fears, trepidations and cheap shots are welcome.

Next time: REIGN OF THE SUPERMAN continues with ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN ANNUAL #5 and SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL #26.
