WOW! Got my letter read on last week’s From Crisis to Crisis and this weeks episode?! You have no idea how awesome this is.
Gentlemen, I sent you a rather personal e-mai, but I just wanted to let you know this show really helped me out in a rough time.

The Power Girl-Flash race in issue #60 was a nice nod to the Superman-Flash races on Earth-1 (Superman #199, The Flash #175, etc.). Gerry Conway tries a bit too hard to push the “women deserve equal treatment” message, casting Power Girl as a “victim” in a way that doesn’t suit her character — she can hold her own, in or out of costume, against pretty much anyone else, so the self-doubt rings a bit hollow. In fact, I have a sneaking suspicion Conway is trying to humanize the characters in a way more common at Marvel Comics (Conway’s former “home”) during that time. The intention is admirable and, in many cases, works to the stories’ benefit, but this sequence is one time when it falls a bit flat. The race itself, however, is most definitely grin worthy.
