Welcome to the thirtieth episode of From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast! This podcast has a simple premise; examine just about every Superman comic published between Man of Steel #1 in 1986 to Adventures of Superman #649 in 2006 in an informative and hopefully entertaining format.

This week Jeffrey and Michael discuss the books that came out with a November 1988 cover date. These included Superman #23 (which was Roger Stern’s first issue on the title and saw the temporary conclusion to the Silver Banshee storyline) and Adventures of Superman #447 (where Luthor’s armor returns as well as Gangbuster). But who is this new Gangbuster? Mike and Jeff aren’t telling so you’ll have to stick around for this one. The guys also discuss what else was happening the DC Universe, the depressing events of the “real world” and more listener e-mails.

Thanks for reading my e-mail. When it comes to continuity I’m a fan like you Mike. I realize I probably was overanalyzing that small detail but those seem to stand out to me when reading comics. Another great episode. Looking forward to next week.

Another fun show. I usually listen to these when at the gym or walking to class or my way home.
I always loved Gangbuster. Not only because he had my name, but he was an interesting character. Thanks for giving Grummett some credit. That guy never gets enough. I used to love his art when I was a kid. Next to Jurgens and Byrne, he has to be my all time favorite Superman artist.

Congratulations to Jeffrey and Michael on reaching a true milestone for the podcast with the first issues of the “post-Byrne” era. There’s no doubting Marv Wolfman’s contributions during the initial year (1986-87) — or Ordway’s involvement for quite a while thereafter — but the Super-franchise faced its first serious turning point with the arrival of Roger Stern and the closer integration of Superman and Adventures of Superman. Excellent stuff all around. Here’s to the two of you for everything you’ve covered thus far — and will cover yet from here.
