STILL CAN’T GET BACK INTO THE GROVE
Every day I think of things to write about here and then lose all will to do so when I get home from work.
I feel bad about this. Again I want to be one of those people that keep regular blogging hours instead of pulling a Bill Paxton in Near Dark and keeping odd hours. That apparently isn’t in the cards so I am just going to roll with it and see if somewhere down the line I can get back on the road of daily blogging.
Until then I guess random posts are the way to go. Also ripping off what other bloggers do seems like a good idea today, so I am going to pull a Shag (he of Once Upon a Geek fame) and post a picture of a really neat T-shirt I bought the other day.
I found this bad boy at Target. Normally I don’t buy T-shirts because for one thing I rarely have a chance to wear them and two I used to weigh 300 pounds and finding them in my size was nigh-impossible. Even if I did they were rarely comfortable. So when I saw this I was skeptical. I mean sure I have dropped some weight but still. I was worried that it wouldn’t fit right and go on the, “doesn’t fit right pile” of shirts I already own.
But it was so neat looking. It reminded me of a shirt I had as a teenager that was a black affair with this cover on it.
I loved that shirt. Either my eldest sister Mary or one of my aunts (Ginny or Josie) gave that to me. Probably Aunt Josie because she lived near the Warner Brothers Store, which used to be at retail malls in various parts of the United States. How I loved that store. They had one in Atlanta but that closed up, along with the rest of them I think, a few years ago. Those stores were so freaking awesome, though. I wore that shirt to pieces. All of the artwork was in white against the previously mentioned black and it was with that shirt that I first tried out something that became a fashion staple for me in my early twenties; comic book T-shirt with a button down and jeans.
I was styling.
Well, actually no. But still.
Anyway, when I saw the Action Comics T-shirt in Target I had two thoughts that came so one on top of the other that I can’t be sure which came first. These thoughts were:
“That is such a cool T-shirt!”
and
“Hey, that’s the cover to the first appearance of Lex Luthor.”
The first thought was understandable. The second proves what a freaking dork I am.
Actually it was the first appearance of Luthor. The name Lex didn’t come until later. He also had a head full of red hair, which is why the Luthor of Earth-2 had red hair back before Crisis on Infinite Earths.
So, what did we learn today? We learned that I have been lazy as of late. We learned I used to and still don’t have any fashion sense. We also learned that I am a dork.
All in all a good day here at the Fortress.
More to follow…eventually…

Great post Mike, and great shirt. i too feel the pain of buying cool t-shirts and then having them look silly over my larger frame.
If you know how to get a hold of that t-shirt at other than Target, let me know! Very cool.
