FROM CRISIS TO CRISIS EPISODE 40: APRIL 1989

Episode 40: April 1989

Welcome to the fortieth episode of From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast! This podcast has a simple premise; examine just about every Superman comic published between Man of Steel #1 in 1986 to Adventures of Superman #649 in 2006 in an informative and hopefully entertaining format.

Part index. Part commentary. Part history lesson. All podcast.

This week Mike and Jeffrey discuss a Superman that is still in Exile with the books that came out with the cover date of April 1989. In Superman #30 Clark finds himself on a planet that seems a lot like home and in Adventures of Superman #453 he finds himself face to face with the Pocket Zoners and finally himself. Issue 30 and 453 feature parts 1 and 2 of a story called Hostile Takeover where Lex Luthor finds a new challenge now that Superman is gone. After the usual Elsewhere in the DCU and Elsewhere in the Real World features there are more e-mails and a special surprise pops up during Jeffrey’s final thought.

You can subscribe to the show in two ways. First there is the RSS Feed and there is also theiTunes link .

  1. I’d forgotten about the “Hostile Takeover!” four-parter until going back to this week’s issues for the ‘cast. The story holds up pretty well, I think, and certainly gives Lex Luthor a chance to shine during Superman’s exile — yes, Lex is still an S.O.B. Here’s looking forward to your review of parts 3 and 4 next time!
