OVERLOOKED DARK KNIGHT EPISODE 27: REMEMBERING NORM BREYFOGLE

Episode 27: Remembering Norm Breyfogle

Welcome to the twenty-seventh episode of The Overlooked Dark Knight.  The is a non-index index show where the hosts, Andrew Leyland and Michael Bailey, look at Batman comics that rarely, if ever, get talked about.  In the second episode of the month they discuss the various books that were associated with the animated Batman shows of the nineties, though just about everything is fair game.

This time out Andy and Mike pay tribute to the late Norm Breyfogle.  Norm passed away last year and the guys wanted to talk about one of their favorite Norm drawn Batman stories.  Mud Pack was a four issue story line that came out in 1989 and was originally published in Detective Comics issues 604-607.  It featured the original Clayface, Basil Karlo, putting together a small team of other villains that have taken the name Clayface for his own nefarious purposes.  Andy and Mike also look at Secret Origins #44, which featured the…well…secret origins of the Clayfaces in question.  More than anything they gush over Norm’s artwork and talk about what a great artist the man was.

(Quick note; the audio from this episode had a lot of issues.  There was no easy fix for this and Mike did the best be could to make the conversation sound like an actual conversation.  So, if there are some weird cuts or something doesn’t flow right you’ll know why.)

Below is a gallery of images from the books discussed in this episode.

And here  are the two posters that came with the story.
