In the fourth annual Year In Review episode, we say Goodbye to the old Superman and say Hello to the New 52 Man of Steel.
I review the final issues of the SUPERMAN: GROUNDED storyline in 2011 in SUPERMAN 707 – 714, the Lex Luthor BLACK RING story in ACTION COMICS 897 – 900,as well as the REIGN OF THE DOOMSDAYS story in ACTION COMICS 900 – 904.
Also reviewed in this episode are the Superman specials: SUPERMAN 80 PG. GIANT, JIMMY OLSEN one shot, SUPERMAN BEYOND 0 and FLASHPOINT: PROJECT SUPERMAN 1 – 3.
Bringing in the new Superman are ACTION COMICS 1 – 4 and SUPERMAN 1 – 3 (issue 4 was published on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, and I was not able to purchase that issue in time for this episode).
I express my views about how the old Superman continuity ended, and my thoughts about the early issues of the New Superman.
Next Episode: SUPERMAN FAMILY COMIC BOOKS COVER DATED MARCH 1957: SUPERMAN’S PAL JIMMY OLSEN 19 & WORLD’S FINEST COMICS 87!

Another new release during the holidays? Yep, that’s how devoted we are to you, our fans! This time out, we go back to March 1973 to see Superman take on a screaming building, meet the Marigold Twins and meet the Bronze Age Kaman Stowell (nowhere near as cool as the one from Earth-Prime). Plus, we learn the secret origin of Christopher Chance. There are also the customary tangents, ads and elsewhere in the DC Multiverse.
If you would be interested in guest co-hosting an episode of Superman in the Bronze Age, please send an email to superbronze1970@gmail.com, and we’ll discuss an episode for you to guest on.

Welcome to the one hundred and twenty-first episode of From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast! This podcast has a simple premise; examine just about every Superman comic published between Man of Steel #1 in 1986 to Adventures of Superman #649 in 2006 in an informative and hopefully entertaining format.
Part index. Part commentary. Part history lesson. All podcast.
The epic coverage of the Death and Return of Superman continues this week with the fourth and fifth parts of Doomsday. Mike and Jeff kick things off with what was supposed to be a brief history lesson that turned out to be not so brief at all. In any case they go over the real world origin of the death of Superman and how word of the story hit the media and caused a sensation. After that the action continues in Adventures of Superman #497 where Superman and eventually Maxima battle against Doomsday in a small town with explosive results. This is followed by Action Comics #684 where there is more fighting and Doomsday gets sucked into professional wrestling. Finally the boys go over the ads that appeared in this month’s batch of issues and tell you what other titles were on the stands when these comics were published.
You can subscribe to the show in two ways. First there is the RSS Feed and there is also the iTunes link.
If you want to comment on the show or contact the hosts you can always private message Mike and Jeff, at the Superman Homepage, leave comments here or at the Homepage or here or email them by clicking this link. All questions, concerns, fears, trepidations and cheap shots are welcome.
Also, be sure to check out Mike’s blog, the Fortress of Baileytude, for all kinds of neat Death and Return of Superman related scans, videos and more!
Next time: Nothing of consequence happens in either Superman: The Man of Steel #19 or Superman #75.
Nope. Nothing special about those books at all.
Except for the fact that a major character dies.
Other than that these issues have no historical value whatsoever.

Welcome to episode 52 of The Thrilling Adventures of Superman. The show’s mission is to explore the history and development of the Superman in his formative years by chronicling the Man of Steel’s Golden Age adventures in comics, radio and film.
Before closing out the year, Michael is joined by Charlie Niemeyer for a look at the four Superman radio serial auditions or “pilot” episodes. Originally put together in 1939, these recordings offer a look at the show’s original conception and find Superman going up against a new menace in the form of the Shark!
And be sure to check out Charlie’s podcast, Superman in the Bronze Age! A huge thanks once more to Mr. Niemeyer for coming on the show.

Golden Age Superman is back again, this time with 100% more voices! This episode covers the second half of Superman’s adventures from July 1940, and I am joined by Charlie Niemeyer (of Superman in the Bronze Age and frequently of The Thrilling Adventures of Superman) to look at Action Comics 28, where Jack Burnley becomes the regular artist on the title. It’s circus silliness involving a thief in leopard print, so brace yourselves! Then Clark disguises himself as a tramp during the week while finally taking down the “Lamite” on Sunday in the newspapers, with a trip to Happyland Amusement Park coming at us from the radio show! The fun-filled episode is filled with fun, so check it out!
If you wish to send feedback, you may do so in the comments below or via email. You can also subscribe to the show through iTunes, and leave a review if you like to spread the word to others. And don’t forget to like the show’s Facebook page. Thank you so much for listening!

The epic coverage of the Death and Return of Superman continues this week with the second and third parts of Doomsday. Mike and Jeff continue to pull out all the stops in their coverage of this event and bring you the middle part of the Superman books bearing a December 1992 cover date. In Justice League America #69 the League face off against Doomsday as Superman is interviewed by Cat Grant. Then in Superman #74 the Man of Steel faces off against Doomsday for the first time! Finally Jeffrey tells you what else was going on in the world when these books were on the stands in the Meanwhile, at the Daily Planet segment.

Ah! The holiday season! Chestnuts roasting, family gathering, sugarplums dancing, gift giving, Jack Frost nipping and podcast listening. And like last year, we take a break from the ordinary to bring you a special episode full of holiday cheer! The year is 2979, and Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes go out in search of that special star from the first Christmas but find a different aspect of Christmas instead (how’s that for being vague?). So sit back, relax and enjoy another Christmas in the Bronze Age.
