The Thrilling Adventures of Superman, Episode 77

The Thrilling Adventures of SupermanWelcome to episode 77 of The Thrilling Adventures of Superman. The show’s mission is to explore the history and development of the Superman in his formative years by chronicling the Man of Steel’s Golden Age adventures in comics, radio and film.

We won’t bury the lede, folks. It’s a weird one this time. This episode, Michael looks at the 15th storyline from the Superman radio serial. The Daily Planet’s star reporter, Clark Kent, flies to Central America at the request of an explorer and on the hunt for a hot story. What results is thievery, plunder, looting and more! And when Superman’s done with that, he finally gets around to accidentally saving the day! Well, kind of. Confused? Just wait ’til you hear it for yourself.

The Thrilling Adventures of Superman, Episode 76

The Thrilling Adventures of SupermanWelcome to episode 76 of The Thrilling Adventures of Superman. The show’s mission is to explore the history and development of the Superman in his formative years by chronicling the Man of Steel’s Golden Age adventures in comics, radio and film.

The Man of Steel takes on more dirty devils and nasty ne’er-do-wells as Michael looks at the Superman story from the pages of ACTION COMICS #29. Our hero charges in, tearing down a racket perpetrated by vile fiends to prey on the aged, helpless and oppressed. If there ever was… this is a job for Superman.

The Kara Zor-El Podcast # 8 – Kingdom Come

Episode #8 of the Kara Zor-El Podcast continues the battles of the epic Final Night Crisis event with a summary and review of Peter David’s Supergirl # 3. A town thrown into chaos and despair, and Earth’s mightiest heroes are all but gone, Supergirl steps up to confront Gorilla Grodd, and put a stop to his manipulative ways. Will Supergirl be successful, or be transformed into a ghastly creature herself?

In the show, I also take a look at the possibility of a live action Supergirl movie, and tackle the age old question, “Who should be Supergirl”? Should it be Laura Vandervoort, Summer Glau, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, or Adrianne Palicki? Vote at Karazor-el.com and have your voice heard.

Imagine death on a global scale by paralyzing cold and enfolding darkness. As panic spreads, people are driven to riot, murder, suicide, confess love, even reconcile with enemies. Since the dawn of the DC Universe, an unstoppable force has swept through the cosmos, feeding off the very stars, destroying worlds teeming with life and plunging them into the darkest night they’ve ever known.

NOW IT’S THE EARTH’S TURN.

THE FINAL NIGHT, a 4-issue weekly miniseries-that begins with the struggle of earth’s heroes to avert a global cataclysm, and follows the desperate extremes to which many of them are driven when they fail! FROM CRISIS TO CRISIS EPISODE 138: REIGN OF THE SUPERMEN PART 4

Episode 138: Reign of the Supermen Part 4

Welcome to the one hundred and thirty-eighth episode of From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast! REIGN OF THE SUPERMEN CONTINUES!

This week Mike and Jeff continue their coverage of the last act in the Death and Return of Superman saga. As has become their habit lately, they brought a friend along. Joining the boys for an extremely long but fun episode is Stephen Lacey, host of 20 Minute Longbox and co-host of The Fantasticast. Stephen joins the boys to discuss two more books from cover date July 1993 starting with Superman: The Man of Steel #23. In this exciting issue we see the first meeting between the Man of Steel and “Don’t Call Me” Superboy in addition to the origin of the White Rabbit. Fair warning; Mike, Jeff and Stephen do a pretty good job of making fun of the White Rabbit through this segment and by a “pretty good job” they mean “they all hate this character and are not shy about telling you why they feel that way”.

This is followed by Superman #79 where Ron Troupe proves just how insensitive he is by asking for Clark Kent’s job while Ron and Clark’s friends and family are packing up the late Mr. Kent’s apartment. Oh, and something big happens with the Cyborg Superman and terrorists and the White House. Mostly it’s Ron trying to take a dead man’s job before the body is even found. Finally, Jeffrey brings you the Meanwhile, at the Daily Planet segment and boy is there a lot of arguing here about things that have nothing to do with Superman.

It’s a wild one this week, dear listeners! So strap in, hang on and prepare for the awesome sauce that is From Crisis to Crisis!

Mike and Jeff would like to thank Stephen for coming out to play, staying up so late and wish him a very happy birthday. He, like all of the other guest hosts, is welcome back anytime.

The Thrilling Adventures of SupermanWelcome to episode 75 of The Thrilling Adventures of Superman. The show’s mission is to explore the history and development of the Superman in his formative years by chronicling the Man of Steel’s Golden Age adventures in comics, radio and film.

This episode, Michael speaks with author Marc Tyler Nobleman, author of “Boys of Steel: The Creators of Superman,” an all-ages picture book biography of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. In the interview, Marc discusses his book, its development, why Siegel’s and Shuster’s story is worthy of a book and much more. REIGN OF THE SUPERMEN CONTINUES!

This week Mike and Jeff continue their coverage of the last act in the Death and Return of Superman saga and once again they brought a friend along. Joining the boys this time out is Shawn Engel, host of Just One of the Guys: A Green Lantern/Guy Gardner Podcast and co-host of Walking Dead Wednesdays over at the Two True Freaks podcasting empire. It seemed like a no-brainer to have Shawn on for this episode because guest starring in Action Comics #688 is none other than Guy Gardner! Apparently Guy is a bit miffed that four people are claiming to be Superman because while he never really liked the Man of Steel he did take down Doomsday when no one else could. So expect a big ol’ fight with the Last Son of Krypton with an unexpected ending. Then, begrudgingly, the trio cover Superman: The Man of Steel Annual #2, which is part of Bloodlines and introduces the new hero named Edge.

It’s not all that good.

Mike and Jeff would like to thank Shawn for coming out to play. He is welcome back anytime.
