Superman Podcast Network: ‘Man of Steel’ Discussion and Review

'Man of Steel' posterHot on the heels of the release of the much-anticipated “Man of Steel,” five Superman fans, podcasters and friends sat down for an impromptu discussion and review of the film.

Joining in this special podcast production is an all-star lineup of some of the best and brightest in the world of Superman podcasts, including Michael Bailey (From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast, Views From the Longbox, Superman Homepage), Jon M. Wilson (Golden Age Superman, The New 52 Adventures of Superman), Jeffrey Taylor (From Crisis to Crisis, Movies.com), J. David Weter (Superman Forever Radio, The New 52 Adventures of Superman) and Michael Bradley (The Thrilling Adventures of Superman).

In the episode, the guys talk about every aspect of the film, from story and plot to character and cast, not to mention special effects, the score and a whole lot more! There’s plenty of fanboy geekery, but also honest talk about the movie’s strengths and weaknesses. Few stones are left unturned as the guys give their off-the-cuff, gut reactions to the newest big-screen incarnation of the Last Son of Krypton.

WARNING: The show contains heavy spoilers. Seriously. If you want to remain spoiler-free, hold off on listening until you’ve seen the movie.

The Final Word on Lois Lane- An Apologist’s guide continues.

With the Post-Crisis era of Superman, the relationship of Lois Lane and Clark Kent is now on the record- meaning it all counts.

With that, I present the brunt of my defense of how and why Lois Lane is important, and how she compares to such icons as Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and Carrie Bradshaw.

And, why is it that Lois Lane has been largely unchanged across every iteration of the character? Download the episode and find out.

It’s a two-pronged attack, as a case is mounted as to how Lois Lane is important to the Superman mythology, as well as her character history.

While it is easy to pigeonhole the character to simple damsel-in-distress status, I believe there is something more relevant to the character, and by going all the way back to the beginning, I start building my case.

Part 1 covers the golden, silver, and bronze age, as well as the radio incarnation and television incarnation.

Next time- The post-crisis and beyond.

Does a lack of sight heighten the other senses? The Man of Steel better hopes so given the menace he faces as Michael looks at the 19th storyline from the radio serial. And maybe “looks” isn’t the right word since the Daily Planet’s crusade against a corrupt bureaucrat leads Superman into a clash with… the Invisible Man! How can our hero defeat a villain he can’t even see?!
