– The 13 page Superman/Batman story was titled SECRET OF THE TIME CREATURE, written by Bill Finger and pencilled by Dick Sprang. According to Mike’s Amazing World Of DC Comics and the Grand Comic Book Database, Sheldon Moldoff was the inker, while the Comic Book Database credits Charles Paris as the inker. This story has been reprinted in WORLD’S FINEST COMICS ARCHIVES vol. III and SHOWCASE PRESENTS: WORLD’S FINEST vol. I, which also credits Charles Paris as the inker.

– Tommy Tomorrow starred in the 6 page story, THE PLANETEER FILM STAR, written my Jack Miller and drawn by Jim Mooney.

– The 6 page Green Arrow story was titled THE MENACE OF THE MOLE MEN, written by Ed Herron and drawn by Lee Elias. This story has been reprinted in SHOWCASE PRESENTS: GREEN ARROW vol. I.

According to Mike’s Amazing World Of DC Comics and The Comic Book Database, George Klein was credited as the inker, while the Grand Comic Book Database credits John Forte as the inker. (During the recording I mistakenly flopped the two comic book database credits.)

– The 13 page Superman story in this issue was titled, SUPERMAN GOES WILD, was written by Robert Bernstein, pencilled by Curt Swan and inked by George Klein. This story has been reprinted in SHOWCASE PRESENTS: SUPERMAN vol. IV.

– Supergirl starred in the 13 page story titled, THE GIRL WITH THE X-RAY MIND, written by Leo Dorfman and drawn by Jim Mooney. This story has been reprinted in SUPERMAN DC GIANT S-24, May/June 1971, published on March 4, 1971, which contained 64 pages for a quarter, and SHOWCASE PRESENTS: SUPERGIRL vol. II.

This story continued the tale begun in ACTION COMICS 292 (covered in Episode 286, for the week of October 30, 2013).

Superman Fan Podcast Episode #290: Superman 2013: Year In Review!

Because of holiday family celebrations and work schedules, there was little time to prepare of post the final two scheduled episodes of 2013. So I decided to do this episode, scheduled to be the final one of 2013, to begin 2014, followed by the next regularly scheduled silver age Superman story episode.

To review the Man of Steel in comic books, I cover:

– SUPERMAN 15 – 25 and SUPERMAN ANNUAL 2. (SUPERMAN 26 was released on Tuesday, December 31, 2013, but I was not able to go to my local comic book shop, Acme Superstore, until today, Saturday, January 4, 2014.

– ACTION COMICS 16 – 26 and ACTION COMICS ANNUAL 2.

– SUPERMAN UNCHAINED 1 – 4. (SUPERMAN UNCHAINED 5 was published on the same day as SUPERMAN 26, but I was unable to go to my local comic book shop before the end of the year.

I also briefly discuss my trip to the Superman Celebration in Metropolis, Illinois, which I covered in the multi-part Episode 271Part IPart IIPart IIIPart IVPart V & Part VI. Next I highlight my thoughts on the film MAN OF STEEL, which premiered the week after the Superman Celebration, and I originally reviewed in Episode 272.

I also highlight some of my pop culture Christmas gifts, as well as the pop culture Christmas gifts I bought for my family.

WORLD’S FINEST COMICS 106, December 1959, was published around October 22, 1959. It contained 32 pages for the cover price of a dime. The editor was Jack Schiff, and the cover was pencilled by Curt Swan and inked by Stan Kaye.

– The 12 page Superman/Batman story was titled THE DUPLICATE MAN, written by Bill Finger and pencilled by Dick Sprang. Mike’s Amazing World Of DC Comics and the Grand Comic Book Database list Sheldon Moldoff as the inker, while the website comicbookdb.com credits Charles Paris as the inker. This story has been reprinted in WORLD’S FINEST COMICS ARCHIVE vol. III and SHOWCASE PRESENTS: WORLD’S FINEST vol. I.

– Tommy Tomorrow starred in the 6 page story titled, THE PLANETEER BODYGUARDS. Mike’s Amazing World Of DC Comics lists Otto Binder as the writer, while the Grand Comic Book Database and the website comicbookdb.com credit Jack Miller as the author. All three sources agree on the artist, Jim Mooney.

– Green Arrow and Speedy starred in the 6 page story, THE CRIMES OF THE PNEUMATIC MAN, written by Ed Herron and drawn by Lee Elias.
