THE SUPERMAN AND LOIS TAPES EPISODE 9: ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE OR PRE-ZOMBIE SUPERMAN

Episode 9: Zack Synder’s Justice League Part 1 or Pre-Zombie Superman

And lo there came a day…a day unlike any other…where The BAM Crew (Bethany, Alison, and Michael) gather together to discuss…well, with an opening like that you might expect them to talk about the Avengers but they are actually beginning a two part conversation about Zack Snyder’s Justice League.  Specifically, the talk about the first two hours of the film, right up to the point where the League is discussing whether or not they want to bring Superman back from the dead.  They talk about all of the main characters (Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, Steppenwolf, and Lois Lane) and what they liked and didn’t like about the film thus far.

They also discover that Bethany and Michael have a difference of opinion about Steppenwolf.  Bethany doesn’t like his look and Michael argues that it’s so much better than the theatrical cut.

Which it is.

Just…look at them.

The Superman and Lois Tapes can be found on both Apple Podcasts and Spotify. The show can be reached by email at [email protected].  You can also leave comments here or over at the Facebook page for the show, which you can get to by clicking this link.

  1. Well, I haven’t seen the extended “Snyder Cut” of Justice League, but I did see the theatrical version, so I have a bit of a handle on your discussion this time. It sounds like there are things in this version that explain things a bit better, perhaps, than the Whedon version, which I think I’d like, but I don’t know that I’d be all-in for a 4 hour movie. I can only assume that, had Zack Snyder been able to complete the movie for theatrical release, it would have clocked in at less time than that, but probably still have been long. Without knowing exactly how long, I probably would have gone to see it if it had an intermission (I’m an old guy; I’d need a bathroom break at some point.), but that hypothetical “Snyder Theatrical Version” doesn’t really exist, so who knows?
I liked hearing your various versions of the characters, and, simply based on the pictures (above) of the versions of Steppenwolf, I think I prefer the “Snyderverse” one, at least visually.
I also liked your discussion of fan entitlement, which seems to me a beast that should not be fed too much or too often, lest it grow even hungrier and more demanding. I am reminded of Spock’s advice to Stonn in the Star Trekepisode “Amok Time”: “After a time, you may find that ‘having’ is not so pleasing a thing after all as ‘wanting’. It is not logical, but it is often true.”
As always, thanks for a thought-provoking and fun episode.
