YOUTUBE TUESDAY – AQUA VELVA

Welcome back to YouTube Tuesday, the day of the week where I get to be really lazy and instead of posting anything of substance I distract you with a shiny video.  This week I present…something kind of strange.

This is a commercial from around 1966 or so.  The actor playing Supeman is Bob Holiday.  Bob portrayed Superman/Clark Kent in the Broadway musical It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s Superman, which as a musical is actually pretty good.  I saw this video on a friend’s Facebook post and thought it was kind of keen so I wanted to share it here.  I realize that musicals are not everyone’s cup of tea but I happen to like them quite a bit so I was happy as can be back in 1993 when I stumbled upon a new release of the cast recording.  The musical gets kind of a bad rap mainly because of the 1975 ABC television production and when you actually see it…

…you can see why, but the original version is quite charming.

Really.  It is.  Stop looking at me like that.

More to follow…
