This week Mike and Jeff end 2009 in fine style by presenting the second part of their two part interview with Jerry Ordway. This time out, which is slightly longer than the first part, we get more in depth about Jerry’s first few months as the writer of Adventures of Superman in addition to hearing more behind the scenes stuff about the creation of the Milton Fine Brainiac and even the real deal about The Circle. All of this and Superman movie talk as well. This was such a fun interview for Jeffrey and Michael and once again they would like to thank Jerry for his time and enthusiasm for this interview.

This week Mike and Jeff have a holiday treat for you! A couple of weeks ago the boys “sat down” with writer/artist Jerry Ordway to chat about his work on Superman. In this first part (Yes, there are two parts, folks. Jerry was very generous with his time.) Jerry talks about how he became a fan of Superman, how coloring books led to him breaking into the business, how he was tapped to pencil Adventures of Superman and the very candid behind the scenes stories of how Bibbo, Cat Grant, Jose Delgado and Emil Hamilton were created. Jeff and Mike had a lot of fun with this interview and would like to thank Jerry for taking the time to talk to two Superman fans.

This time out Jeffrey and Michael tackle the Superman books that came out with the cover date of December 1988. In Superman #24 we see the return of Rampage and why Superman steers clear of the political arena. In Adventures of Superman #447 Superman and Clark Kent both get to play hero and there is yet another appearance of the new Gangbuster. The guys also tackle Swamp Thing #79 as Superman makes a healthy guest appearance in that issue before reading some more of your e-mails.

This week Jeffrey and Michael discuss the books that came out with a November 1988 cover date.  These included Superman #23 (which was Roger Stern’s first issue on the title and saw the temporary conclusion to the Silver Banshee storyline) and Adventures of Superman #447 (where Luthor’s armor returns as well as Gangbuster).  But who is this new Gangbuster?  Mike and Jeff aren’t telling so you’ll have to stick around for this one.  The guys also discuss what else was happening the DC Universe, the depressing events of the “real world” and more listener e-mails.

Jeffrey and Michael have a special guest on this week to discuss the last of the Superman “World Of” mini-series. Fellow Superman Homepage staffer James Lantz joins the guys to discuss World of Metropolis and a good time seemed to be had by all. This mini-series showcased the supporting cast in addition to showing an untold tale of Clark Kent’s past. See Perry White return to Metropolis and confront Lex Luthor! Thrill to Lois as a fifteen year old sneaking into Lexcorp headquarters only to be caught in the act! Learn how Clark managed to enroll at Metropolis University and cheer as Jimmy is forced to cobble together a familiar time piece to save his friend.
