Episode 68 – The Real Year One Part 1
Welcome to the sixty-eighth episode of The Overlooked Dark Knight. The is a non-index index show where the hosts, Andrew Leyland and Michael Bailey, look at Batman comics that rarely, if ever, get talked about.
This time out Andy and Mike begin at Batman Year One. Now the guys know what you’re thinking…and you’re right…that episode graphic doesn’t look like it was drawn by Dave Mazzucchelli. That’s Bob Kane. And you are correct. See, Andy and Mike aren’t looking at the four part story written by Frank Miller. They’re looking at the first actual year of Batman’s publication history and discussing how the character began and how he evolved over that time. In this first part, they discuss the Batman stories published in Detective Comics issues 27 to 34. Vampires! Death dealers! Dirigibles! Batman killing everyone! This one has it all!
Below is a gallery of the covers of the comics discussed during this episode.
