On November 12, 2018 Stan Lee passed away. To say that he was an important creative force in comic books is a gross underestimation of what he meant not only to fandom but the world in general. Stan Lee co-created dozens of characters and wrote hundreds of comic books but for me personally there was one creation that stands above them all.
The Incredible Hulk.
So I thought it was appropriate to take about an hour and a half to talk about my history with the Hulk and why I love the character so much but more importantly I take a look at my single favorite Stan Lee written comic ever…Incredible Hulk #1. Sprinkled throughout are some sound clips of the man himself about the creation of the Hulk plus a Power Records style performance of Incredible Hulk #1.
Stan Lee was a lot of things to a lot of people. To some he was a figure of controversy. To others he was the best ambassador comic book ever had. He was a writer, an editor, a creator and a larger than life figure. To me he was the guy that introduced the cartoons I was watched as a kid and part of the creative force behind the best Marvel comics character ever created. He will be missed.
RIP Stan. I hope you are at peace now.
Here are some pages from the comic discussed in this episode.
