Episode 250: The Jon Bogdanove Interview
Welcome to the two hundredth and fiftieth episode of From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast! This podcast has a simple premise; examine just about every Superman comic published between Man of Steel #1 in 1986 to Adventures of Superman #649 in 2006 in an informative and hopefully entertaining format.
To paraphrase a movie villain, “They never believed the boys could go the distance.”
And yet, here Mike and Jeff are.
For the 250th episode, the boys have FINALLY “sat down” with artist Jon Bogdanove to talk about his time drawing Superman. Jon talks about how he came to work on Superman: The Man of Steel, what inspirations he brought to drawing the character, some great stories from around the Death and Return era, why he drew so many versions of Batman for the Zero Hour cover, how the long hair was never a mullet, and what Superman means to him. It was a great conversation and both Mike and Jeff thank Jon for being so generous with his time and for talking with them on this landmark episode.
Note: The audio has some issues. Nothing unlistenable, but for whatever reason there were some problems. So…heads up and all that.
The From Crisis to Crisis theme is by Lucien Desar.
