Episode 45 – Starlin’s Batman Part 7: Consequences
Welcome to the forty-seventh episode of The Overlooked Dark Knight. The is a non-index index show where the hosts, Andrew Leyland and Michael Bailey, look at Batman comics that rarely, if ever, get talked about. Back in episode 39 they started a series covering Jim Starlin’s run of Batman and they are going to continue with that until they get through all of his issues, up to and including Batman: The Cult.
This time out Andy and Mike look at a two part story that began in Batman #424 and continued in Batman #425 and was probably one of the more serious stories told during Jim Starlin’s Batman run. What happens when Robin hears a woman screaming and after he and Batman take down the bad guys those bad guys get released because of diplomatic immunity? And what if Robin confronts the bad guy and that bad guy ends up falling to his death, which Robin may or may not have caused? And what if that bad guy’s father wants revenge and kidnaps Commissioner Gordon? All of those questions are asked and answered over the course of this episode, with some critical analysis and a few laughs along the way.
