Remember when I used to do YouTube Tuesday?

Yeah.  I do too.

This week we are going to hop into the Time Bubble and travel back to the early 1990’s.  The ’90s are kind of the red headed stepchild of comic book eras.  The vast majority of readers that are still around today or that dropped their books during that time period tend to say things like, “grim and gritty,” and “foil covers” and “boy does this crap suck all of the ass on planet Earth.”  Some of that is fair and some of it…isn’t.  I have long felt that the early ’90s were a really exciting time to collect comic books.  The books themselves may not have been the best but the overall atmosphere was a whole heck of a lot of fun.  It was a time when a comic book creator could appear in a commercial with Spike Lee for 501 Button Fly jeans.

Or on Dennis Miller’s late night talk show.

Heck, even Stan Lee was on that show.

Better yet, why not have two of the hottest artists of the early nineties team up with the legendary Stan Lee to produce a video that looks to me like an infomerical?

And then there’s Stan interviewing Rob.

Hope you enjoyed that or at the very least had a minor chuckle.

More to follow…

  1. Didn’t know you were such a Liefeld fan.

It’s surprising you didn’t mention Todd McFarlane making cameos in the Spawn toy commercials. And wasn’t J. Scott Campbell on Leno at one point? Thought he was…

  2. i never really got into liefeld. it was a little too grim and gritty for my 12-year old self back in ’93. and looking back at it now, his “amazing work” did not age well… it all just seems really dated.
