Welcome to the two hundredth and forty-sixth episode of From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast! This podcast has a simple premise; examine just about every Superman comic published between Man of Steel #1 in 1986 to Adventures of Superman #649 in 2006 in an informative and hopefully entertaining format.
Mike and Jeff are back with the first part of the May 1996 cover dated books and boy is this year flying by. First up is Adventures of Superman #534, which has Superman fighting a bunch of monsters created by a rogue pharmacist who compounded a knockoff version of the DMN drug. This does not best please Lord Satanus, who has to try and take care of things on the down low. Then, in Action Comics #721, everyone gets lucky! No, the entire population of Metropolis doesn’t suddenly start having massive orgies, but everyone that bought a lotto ticket wins, which creates havoc across the city.
After that, the boys answer the question, Hey, Wha’ Happened: In The Real World by looking at two pretty dreadful episodes from the third seasons of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. In Forget Me Not, Lois struggles to regain her memory while also investigating strange occurrences at the rest home she is being treated at. Then, in Oedipus Wrecks, the brother of Bad Brain Johnson seeks to get revenge for his brother and to prove his worth to his abusive mother. Oh, and the doctor treating Lois hypnotizes her into loving him, which is gross. Finally, Mike and Jeff go over the real world events and the films that happened or came out in March of 1996.
